Short breaks during the final stages of thesis writing and #Imappivut research to read and drink coffee. Heard John Gierach on the @meateatertv podcast and have been enjoying his most recent book. I especially like the chapters about fly fishing for brookies in Labrador and am now eagerly waiting for snow to melt here. #flyfishing #labrador A lot of people have asked me about the town, landscape, and topography here. It's always a little difficult, this place is so unique. This photo, actually from a new vantage point I had not been up to before yesterday, shows the location of town in the landscape well. Nain is right on the ocean at the base of steep hills/mountains at the bottom of this valley you can see running towards town on the left. Not a cloud in the sky. What a place! New book delivery; the pile grows.
I think the Faulkner book title is the font I'd want on my headstone. Except I'd rather just be put in the forest for the critters to eat. But otherwise, that's the font I would want. #wildones #jonmooallem #faulkner #alexandervonhumboldt @jmooallem Labrador moose steaks for supper tonight. Smashed them with a cast iron skillet to tenderize them, then spiced and fried them to barely less red than this photo. Out partridge hunting one week ago. You can't see the dozen or so white birds we're looking at that were all quite safe from us because of the crazy winds. This was a beauty section of country. 3 Ways to Become Involved in Conservation
